In July 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army. He participated in battles on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula with the 1st Naval Infantry Brigade, the 83rd Special Black Sea Brigade, the 2nd Mine Sweeping Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet.

He was wounded four times, after treatment in 1948 he returned to Sevastopol, worked at the Sevastopol Shipyard until 1988 as a ship fitter of the 6th category.
