Ilya Ivanovich ZUBOV

Ilya Ivanovich Zubov had fought the Great Patriotic War since 1941. He fought on the Leningrad, Stalingrad, 4th Ukrainian, 1st Baltic, and 3rd Belorussian fronts.

Commander of the department of the 28th Separate Guards Reconnaissance Troop of the 24th Guards Rifle Division of the 2nd Guards Army of the 4th Ukrainian Front, then the 1st Baltic Front, later - assistant platoon commander of the 28th Separate Reconnaissance Troop of the 24th Rifle Division of the 39th Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front.

On May 4, 1944, on the northern approaches to Sevastopol, commanding a group of fighters, he blew up a pillbox with 15 enemy soldiers. He was wounded, but did not disengage from action, destroyed 3 more enemy soldiers.
